Waze wanted its users to download new voices for the app in Brazil, with a very famous soccer narrator: Silvio Luiz. Before we start producing this track, we had a couple previews presentations, as the client hadn’t yet decided if it should sound like an electronic and fun videogame soundtrack or as an organic brazilian rhythm. So we made a research to make it easier for him to choose.
It was also our preference for a latin brazilian rhythm, as it could represent also the typical fun way how Brazilians overcomes the most difficult situations and, of course, it looks better with soccer. So we experimented dissonant chords when unexpected traffic problems happened and, as the app showed an exit, the music went on, as the user went to its final destinantion: the stadium.
Millions of viewers watched the film on Youtube, that rapidly went viral. And, of course, downloaded the new voices for their apps. The repercussion was so great that Waze Mexico and Colombia also created their own narrations over the same film.
